Help! I've been scammed through Alibaba?

Question

I bought about 5 products from a so called company in China for a total of 2300usd. I sent them money through Western Union and have found out they are a scam. Is there a way I could retrieve my money back? I have their bank account number, would a friend in China be able to help me out? Maybe call the bank to freeze his account?? Help, any suggestions??

If you were scammed, and it sounds as if you were, they are not going to be waiting for people to call round, are they. Assuming you knew where to look for them in the first place.

Be thankful you didn't use your credit card, and having that maxed out. As regards cooperation from the banks, they are almost as bad as the scammers. They must know what is going on, but unless there is some kind of criminal charge, they don't seem to want to be involved or prevent it.

There are web sites devoted to reporting this sort of thing. Add your story to them, if it saves one person from doing the same thing, it will be worth it.

You are out of luck. No one in China is going to force someone to send you your money back. The company probably does not even exist.

I am not sure what you were thinking when you sent $2300 to a guy in China. That is a sure sign of a scam.
