an item bought from site alibaba taking foreveerrr to get here!?

Question

ok so my problem isnt that it is taking so long to get but when you order an item they give you a certain amount of time in which you can open a dispute. im guessing after this time is up you cannot open one and payment is cleared to the seller. well in 3 days this time willl be up! the item was shipped out on the 16th of last month. and yes i have a tracking number which is working fine. but what if this is all bs? should i open a dispute on the last of the 3 days i have left if it hasnt yet arrived and only  drop this dispute when the item has arrived? seller told me it would  take 2 weeks! ive ordered from china before and this is by far the longest ive had to wait im thinking its because all the holiday packages slowing things down

I think that this time you have run into a stereotypical Chinese scammer. I'd go ahead and open the dispute while there's still time. As you say, you can drop the dispute later if the parcel arrives (which I doubt it will).
